What inspired you to become a Speech Pathologist?

What paved my path to becoming a speech pathologist is my love for both communication and science. I have always loved to talk and was equally fascinated by how the human body and brain work. I also knew I wanted a career where I could make a meaningful impact on people’s lives. Bringing all of this together has shaped the way I approach care. I strive to make the greatest possible impact by empowering individuals to confidently express their needs and communicate effectively.

What client groups or settings have you found most rewarding, and what have they taught you about your strengths as a clinician?

Both paediatrics and older adults have been incredibly rewarding client groups for me. In both settings, I have been able to witness significant growth and progress. These experiences have reinforced my belief that consistent practice always leads to improvement. They have also strengthened my patience, adaptability, and commitment to supporting clients at every stage of their journey.

How would your clients describe your style or approach in sessions?

My clients would describe my approach as collaborative and client-centred. I encourage my clients to lead sessions while we work together towards their goals. I believe therapy is most effective when it is guided by the individual’s needs, interests, and priorities.

What do you enjoy most about your day-to-day work?

What I enjoy most about my day-to-day work is celebrating the wins—big and small. Seeing my clients take steps closer to their communication goals is incredibly fulfilling and reminds me why I chose this profession.
